How do I order supplies/kits?

How do I send my specimen to the lab?

Based on your needs, a Relationship Executive will arrange a shipping method with our preferred carriers which can include regularly scheduled pickups, on call service or Lockbox pickups.

What if my patient does not have insurance?

Danner Laboratory does not want healthcare to be cost prohibitive. For patients without insurance we have prepay options available. For more info please call 858-552-1508

How long does it take to receive results? How do I access results?

Danner Laboratory typically provides results within 2-3 business days. Medical office can receive results via fax, email or EMR. Also, you are always welcome to call for results.

What is a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)?

An STD is a sexually transmitted disease and most people will have an STD in their lifetime. They are transmitted through unprotected sexual intercourse, intravenous drug use, or nonsexual contact such as childbirth or breastfeeding. Having unprotected sex with someone infected with an STD will more than likely lead to an infection. If you believe you may be infected with an STD, you need to get tested immediately.

Do I have a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD)?

STDs are more common than most people believe. It’s estimated that there are 20 million new cases of STDs in the U.S. each year.   Some STDs do not show symptoms, so the only way to confirm that you are infected is to get tested. You can unknowingly be infected and transmit STDs to others. You are at risk if you have come in contact with an STD-infected person.

What are the symptoms of STDs?

Common STD symptoms include sores on the genitals, discharge, itching, a burning sensation during urination, dark or smelly urine, strange rashes or spots on your body, bumps, blisters, warts, or lesions on the genitals, unusual odors, and white spots in your pubic hair. Remember: Many STDs do not show symptoms.

Should I get tested for an STD even though I do not show symptoms?

Yes. If you have engaged in unprotected oral, vaginal, or anal sex, getting tested for STDs is important. Although many STD infections do not show symptoms, it is still possible to spread them. Getting tested will put you at ease and help you begin any needed treatment.

Do I need a physical exam to get tested for STDs?

No, all of our STD tests are performed using a simple urine sample. There is no swabbing or physician examination necessary.

Do Condoms prevent all STDs?

Latex or polyurethane condoms help prevent transmission of most STDs but even condoms are not 100% guaranteed to prevent all infections.

What type of testing do you use?

(FDA approved Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) which is the recommended standard for testing according to the CDC. What this means to you is that we use the best testing technology available with an accuracy of 99%. So you can test, get your results and get on with your life.

Is there different test kits required for Males and Females?

NO, unlike our competitors, there is only one testing kit that can be used for men and women. You don’t have to worry about selecting the wrong kit or being sent the wrong kit.

Is the test uncomfortable or painful?

There is no physical pain or discomfort associated with the test. The kit collects a urine sample so no needles or invasive swabs are used.

Where are the kits made?

The Personalized Test kit is assembled at Danner Laboratory.

Are the kits certified?

All our kits are either an FDA-approved test or validated by Danner Laboratory INC. These tests have the same diagnostic accuracy as going to your Doctor or laboratory.

Do the kits expire?

Yes, the expiration date is labeled on the provided tube. The expiration dates are double checked before being sent out so you never get an expired test.

Is shipping discreet?

Shipping is discreet. The package is delivered in a plain brown box and does not show the product or business name.

How long does it take to receive results?

From the time you order your Personalized Test kit to the time your results are available it normally takes 4-6 business days.  This timeline accounts for 1-3 days for you to receive the kit and 1-3 days for the laboratory to receive the kit, process and post results.

Are my results confidential?

Yes, your results are confidential. You will receive a unique anonymous ID number that is used to label the specimen and receive results through our secure HIPPA compliant reporting process. You are identified solely by your unique ID number.

Who will have access to my results?

When it comes to your results only you will have access and know the results of your test. You can share them with whomever you want.

Please note: To comply with federal and state regulations if you test positive for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea or Trichomonas the lab is required by law to report the result to the Health Department in your state. No one is able to access this data, not even a spouse or family member.  The data is simply collected to track the prevalence of new infections and for public health follow up where necessary. Your name and other identifying information is not included in the report.

Do you accept health insurance?

No. We do not accept health insurance to protect your privacy. When you use health insurance to pay for STD testing services, your insurance company is automatically notified.

Depending on your insurance provider, you may be able to submit a claim to them directly.

What is your cancellation policy?

Kit orders can be cancelled only prior to shipment. Once shipped, kits cannot be refunded or returned. For the health and safety of our clients, we do not accept or reuse returned kits.

What happens if I test positive?

Don’t worry, but refrain from further sexual activity until you have spoken with your health care provider. Most STDs can be cured or managed with help from a doctor. Share our lab certified results with your doctor or nearby clinic for the best course of action.

Note that the personalized test is exclusively a testing service. We do not prescribe medication or treatment.

Does a negative result mean I do not have an STD?

Not necessarily. Due to varying incubation periods for STDs, you may test negative in the early days following initial exposure. This makes regular, ongoing STD testing critical to ensure your sexual health.
